In Phoenix: Tour downtown Phoenix, and the beautiful residential areas of Camelback Mountain and Paradise Valley; visit the fabulous Heard Museum of Native American cultures, arts and crafts; visit the Phoenix Art Museumholding American, International, and contemporary art, high fashion collections and a beautiful sculpture garden; visit the Desert Botanical Gardenin lovely Papago Park; and Paolo Soleri’s workshop at Cosanti to see his famous wind-bells.
In Scottsdale: See Old Town Scottsdale: visit The Scottsdale Center for the Artsand it’s Museum of Contemporary Artand visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West.
Red Rock Country: As you journey to red rock country, visit the ruins of Montezuma Castle National Monument, an early indigenous cliff dwelling.
In Sedona: Right in the heart of red-rock country, view the contemporary Chapel of the Holy Cross wedged between two large red sandstone peaks; visit Tlaquepaque the architecturally interesting and entertaining shopping area; and visit Sedona’s Gallery Row. Head north on Oak Creek Canyon Road to Flagstaff, one of the most scenic roads in North America.
In Flagstaff: Take a city tour of the highlights of Flagstaff, and drive east to Winslow. Visit Meteor Crater, formed about 50,000 years ago when a meteor slammed into the rocky plain.
The Grand Canyon: Drive to the Grand Canyon via the Hopi and Navajo reservations, with an interesting stop in a Hopi village. Visit the fascinating Cameron Trading Post. See the half hour IMAX Grand Canyon film. Take the desert view drive to catch these spectacular panoramic views of the Canyon: Lookout Studio, Mather Point, Grand View Point, and Desert View. Enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the canyon.
