Guadalajara

9 Days October 13 to 21, 2008

Overview of Guadalajara
Guadalajara, the most Mexican part of Mexico, is the birthplace of mariachi music, tequila, the charro and the great modern muralist, Jose Clemente Orozco. It is also the homeland of some of the finest crafts and decorative art in all of Mexico. In Tlaquepaque and Tonalá see a world of fabulous glass, pottery, jewelry, embroidery and woodcarvings. View Orozco's most spectacular murals and meet one of Mexico’s great contemporary artists in his studio and home. See regal colonial buildings and churches. Visit a private home in the lake-side fishing village of Ajijíc and the renowned Heradura tequila distillery and agave plantation in Amatitlan. Attend a performance of the famous Ballet Folklorico de la Universidad de Guadalajara.
